What are Take-Up Frames and Covers?
Take-Up Frames are utilized on conveyor systems to promote belt tracking and prevent belt slippage by allowing the operator adjustability in keeping proper belt tension on the drive pulley. PCI manufactures several styles of Take-Up Frames offering different levels of adjustability, maintenance and mounting configuration. PCI also manufactures steel frame covers that are powder coated safety yellow to identify and protect moving components on side mounting style frames.
- PCI Take-Up Frames are fabricated from carbon steel and are powder coated graphite grey for durability or available in stainless steel
- Accommodate shaft sizes from 1/2″ to 5″ in standard travel lengths from 1-1/2″ through 60″
- Threaded Rod Standard Specifications:
- Carbon Steel Non-Telescoping frames – Coarse Threaded Rod
- Carbon Steel Telescoping frames – ACME Threaded Rod
- All Stainless Steel frames – Coarse Threaded Rod
- Tension Indicating options provide “real-time” readout of belt tension adjustment available

SIDE MOUNT STYLES
Telescoping
PCI® Telescoping Take-Up Frames feature our exclusive indicator pin, showing the user exactly how much travel is available in either direction. Telescoping frames are side mounted, and their design allows the pulley and bearings to be cantilevered outside of the conveyor frame.
Narrow Slot
Narrow Slot Take Up Frames provide an economical solution for light duty take-up applications with space limitations. These in-line frames can be mounted to the side or on top of the conveyor frame, offer from 6″ to 18″ of travel and utilize Narrow Slot Bearing units.
Wide Slot
Standard Duty
Wide Slot Take Up Frames provide an economical solution for take-up applications with space limitations. These in-line frames can be mounted to the side of the conveyor frame, offer from 1.5″ to 30″ of travel and utilize Wide Slot Bearing units.
Wide Slot
Heavy Duty
PCI Heavy Duty Wide Slot Take Up Frames provide the same advantages as Standard Duty Wide Slot Frames but feature a reinforced side plate to accommodate additional loading.

Style B
Wide Slot Style B Take Up Frames provide an economical solution for take-up applications with space limitations. These in-line frames can be mounted to the side of the conveyor frame, offer from 1.5″ to 30″ of travel and utilize Wide Slot Bearing units.
TOP MOUNT STYLES
Center Pull
Center Pull Take-Up Frames provide versatility to a wide variety of applications. Like Narrow & Wide Slot Take-Up Frames, these frames are in-line units, allowing tensioning force to be applied to the center of the bearing housing. Center Pull Take-Up Frames are top mounted and a variety of Wide Slot Take-Up Bearings can be used.
Top Angle
Round Channel
PCI Top Angle Take-Up Frames offer heavy duty rugged construction and feature added protection for the threaded adjustment rod. The top angle which protects the adjustment rod is easily removable via two bolts offering access to the bearing. Top Angle Frames are top mounted and use Take-Up bearings with round bottom housings.
Protected Screw
Heavy Duty
Protected Screw Take-Up Frames feature the heaviest and most rugged construction of PCI’s Take-Up Frame products. These heavy duty frames are top mounted and predrilled for use with standard 2-bolt mount style pillow block bearings.

Light Duty
Light Duty Protected Screw Take-Up Frames are used in light bulk and package handling applications where loads are light and there is no impact loading. They feature a split saddle design for easy adjustability.

OPTIONAL TAKE-UP FRAME COVERS ARE AVAILABLE
Take-up frame covers identify and protect moving components. Standard frames are powder-coated safety yellow, with some styles available in stainless steel materials. For narrow and wide slot styles, the same cover is used on PCI’s tension and non-tension frames.
